Anglo American Bursaries

Anglo American Bursary – Anglo American Corporate Office offer bursary opportunities to top-performing learners with an interest in mining-related disciplines and who are in their 2nd or 3rd year of studying at a South African university.
Bursaries are provided to individuals based on merit and top academic achievement. We offer vacation work to all our bursars at the end of each year to develop their understanding of the theory they learn at university and to provide practical experience to those that require it for mining-related subjects.

As an Anglo American bursary student, our primary focus is to ensure that you succeed at university. Our Bursary Programme covers the necessary costs which allow our bursars to focus on their academics. At Anglo we have a dedicated bursary team that keeps in touch all our applicants/students who have been awarded bursaries, providing with mentoring and coaching to equip them to cope with the pressures at university.

Anglo American Bursaries Requirements

A Grade 12 academic level with a minimum of 60% achieved for the following:

Pure Mathematics
Physical Science
English is required for applicants to be considered for a bursary in the following fields of studies:

Mining Engineering
Mechanical Engineering
Electrical Engineering
Chemical /Metallurgical Engineering
Geology
Rock Engineering
Analytical Chemistry
Mine Surveying
Finance and Information. (Physical Science is not required for Finance and Information).

Practical Training Route

We offer a training programme available only for the following:

Ventilation Engineering
Mine Surveying

This supplemented by in-house and/or industry training courses leading to an industry recognised certificate and a substantive appointment with the company. Trainees receive an allowance while training. A Grade12 academic level with a minimum of 50% achieved for Pure Mathematics and Physical Science and English is required for applicants to be considered for a bursary in Ventilation Engineering and Mine Surveying.
