NSFAS Opportunities and the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Mduduzi Manana officially launched the NSFAS Fund-A-Thon Campaign at the University of Fort Hare (Alice campus) in Alice, Eastern Cape province.
The NSFAS Fund-A-Thon is an SMS fundraising initiative by NSFAS in partnership with SABC Foundation and Vodacom Foundation.
The campaign affords donors and individual fundraisers to use mobile phones to make a donation. The donation will fund poor and academically deserving students to further their studies at any of our 26 public universities and 50 TVET Colleges.
The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has been commissioned to provide an efficient and sustainable financial aid system for poor yet academically eligible students. NSFAS enables these students to obtain loans and bursaries at 26 public higher education institutions and 50 technical and vocational education training colleges.
The NSFAS represents a major success in terms of government’s redress agenda. It’s also an example of best practice in promoting the access of previously disadvantaged students to higher education.
