MQA Bursary

MQA bursary scheme was established to increase the number of students taking careers in the mining and minerals sector. Today the bursary scheme continues to assist students by offering them the opportunity to study these careers at Higher Education and Training (HET).

MQA Bursaries Available

  • Mining Engineering
  • Mine Survey
  • Metallurgical Engineering (Extractive only)
  • Geology
  • Environmental Health and Management

Students studying the following will also be considered although MQA bursaries are limited

  • Electrical Engineering (Heavy Current only)
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Chemical Engineering( Mineral Processing)
  • Electro-Mechanical Engineering
  • Industrial Engineering
  • Analytical Chemistry
  • Jewellery Design and Manufacturing

Student that have enrolled with the University, Further Education and Training institution (FET) and University of Technology.

MQA Bursary Value

The bursary scheme covers the following:

  • Registration Fees
  • Accommodation
  • Prescribed Textbooks
  • Stationary
  • Toolkit Allowance per semester
  • Living Allowance
How To Apply

Download and complete one of the following MQA bursary application forms:

Submit clear copies of the following supporting documentation along with your completed application form (the submission of these documents is compulsory – if any items are missing, your application be disregarded):

  • ID document (certified copy)
  • Latest Matric results, if currently in Matric
  • Matric certificate if available (certified copy)
  • Full tertiary academic record, if currently at tertiary level
  • Proof of acceptance to study at a University/ University of technology/ TVET College
  • Parents/ guardians ID documents (certified copies)
  • Parents death certificate if deceased (certified copy)
  • Affidavit if not in contact with parents
  • Parents/ guardians payslips, less than 3 months old
  • Affidavit if parent or guardian is unemployed
