Allan Gray Bursaries

Allan Gray bursaries application are open for student as from grade 6 to request financial assistance from Allan Gray.

The aim of this bursary is to assist applicants to develop their careers to its full potential so that the can grow to become responsible South Africans who contribute to our growth and sustainability.  Allan Gray bursaries beneficiaries are expected to perform well during their years of study.
These bursaries are awarded on yearly basis but students must renew them by submitting good results for the academic years that their receive the bursary. All applications for renewal must be received by Allan Gray on time.

Allan Gray Bursaries Value

The bursary will pay for the following expenses incurred during study period:
  • Registration fees
  • Tuition fees
  • Accommodation fees where applicable
  • Prescribed books
  • Stationary allowance
  • School uniforms where applicable
  • Allowance for private clothes
  • Traveling allowances
  • Allowance for Extra activities at the school

Allan Gray Bursaries Application Criteria

  • Applicant must be in Grade 6 this year (2015)
  • A minimum of 70% in English and Mathematics (Grade 5-6)
  • A minimum of 70% in Numeracy and Literacy in the Annual National Assessments (ANA)
  • Demonstrate financial need
  • The applicant has to be a South African citizen
  • Certified copies of all required documentation

Allan Gray Bursaries Selection Process
  • Complete an application form
  • Applicants will be shortlisted based on academic performance (including Annual National Assessment results), and invited for interviews
  • Upon successful completion of the interview; shortlisted candidates will be invited to a 2-day selection camp
  • If successful at the selection camp, the candidates will be recommended to the Foundation Placement Schools
  • Candidates whose recommendations are approved by the Placement Schools will be awarded the Scholarship
  • Once the Scholarship is awarded, the Foundation, Placement School and the Scholars Custodian sign a Memorandum of Agreement.
